Having fled the war in Syria, Hanna and her young brother Nader find themselves staying in a run-down neighbourhood of Istanbul. Hanna spends her days learning nail design in order to earn a living, while dreaming of finding a way to migrate to Europe. When she meets a Turkish guy, Ibo, on a night out, she finds herself trying to balance her identity and desires with the needs of her young brother.
Director's Statement I was born in a town in Turkey at the Greek border, to an immigrant family. In my story, I explore the emotions and desires of a forcibly displaced woman, set at the intersection of daily life and the pursuit of a better life, under the recurring leitmotif of an ever-changing sky. Through my story, I delve into the simple demands of people to keep on living, enjoy life, and discover the world, while also addressing their complex relationships, past traumas, and lost childhoods stemming from their "previous, precarious lives".
