Director's Statement Last Tropics is a Mediterranean story that explores the effects of climate change on human relationships. The term 'aquatic epidemic' refers to the irreversible damage human activity has caused to marine ecosystems. At the same time, dynamite fishing is an illegal traditional fishing technique with disastrous consequences for the underwater world. These two elements are juxtaposed in our story, which follows the struggle of our young heroes fishing with dynamite after the environmental catastrophe, as they attempt to survive in unprecedented extreme climate conditions. As their fishing village drifts into limbo and t he marine crisis escalates, the film portrays their final 24 hours before escaping. But isn't this the fate of humanity itself: to destroy Earth and then seek refuge among the stars?
