Director's Statement
The biographical nature of this work has led me to experience two conflicting emotions for months. On one side it was fantastic to be able to give “visual life” to one of my grandpa’s tales about the war he lived. “What brings a man to eat potato skins?”, I was wondering when the story was going into details. From the other side it was very sad. The research work needed to go deeper in a blurred reality, even for me, made me realise what he really went through, him and the other 600.000 prisoners like him. It would be great to remember a little more these men, considered by many the first Italian partisans, especially now.
