Lights On supports with passion emerging filmmakers from all over the world following them from the first steps in short movies to feature films.
We have distributed Pham Thien An’s short film "Stay Awake, Be Ready" winner of the Illy Award for Best Short Film at the 51st Quinzaine des Réalisateurs in Cannes 2019, “Community Gardens” by Vytautas Katkus premiered at Semaine de la Critique 2019, “The Trap” by Nada Riyadh which was selected at Semaine de la Critique and at Toronto International Film Festival 2019. Among our most recent short films: "A Trip to Heaven" by Linh Duong premiered at Locarno Film Festival 2020 and “The Criminals” by Serhat Karaaslan presented at Sundance Film Festival 2021, "Techno, Mama" by Saulius Baradinskas (Venice Film Festival 2021), "El sembrador de estrellas" by Lois Patiño (Berlinale 2022), "Will You Look At Me" by Shuli Huang (Semaine de la Critique 2022 - Queer Palm Award, Sundance Film Festival 2023 - Short Film Jury Award: Nonfiction), "Cherries" by Vytautas Katkus (Cannes Film Festival 2022), "Tria - del sentimento del tradire" by Giulia Grandinetti (Venice Film Festival 2022), "Cross My Heart and Hope To Die" by Sam Manacsa and "Sea Salt" by Leila Basma (Venice Film Festival 2023). Lights On participated at the 70th Berlinale in 2020 with the World Premiere of Lois Patiño 2nd feature film RED MOON TIDE. LOVE DOG by Bianca Lucas (first feature) premiered at Locarno Film Festival 2022, MAMMALIA by Sebastian Mihăilescu premiered at Berlinale 2023, A STRANGE PATH by Guto Parente won the Best International Narrative Feature Award at Tribeca Film Festival 2023. FAMILY PORTRAIT by Lucy Kerr (first feature) and DREAMING & DYING by Nelson Yeo (first feature) premiered at Locarno Film Festival 2023. FAMILY PORTRAIT is the winner of Golden Boccalino Award for Best Director, DREAMING & DYING is the winner of the Pardo d'oro for Best Feature Film (Cineasti del Presente Competition) and of the Swatch First Feature Award. |

Our line up includes feature films and shorts from international emerging talents. Any genre or narrative form is welcomed, but we have a soft spot for cutting edge movies and first films. Support and develop independent cinema on an international level is our first commitment. Our goal is to be the film’s first promoter, exploit the potential of the movie, until it reaches the widest possible audience. |
